{"id":64,"date":"2013-12-24T18:40:06","date_gmt":"2013-12-24T18:40:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.movesforbrews.com\/?p=64"},"modified":"2013-12-31T18:42:28","modified_gmt":"2013-12-31T18:42:28","slug":"beer-bracket-great-lakes-great-beer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.movesforbrews.com\/?p=64","title":{"rendered":"Beer Bracket: Great Lakes, Great Beer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I ended up casting the deciding vote, and Great Lakes moves to the finals!<\/p>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div><strong>Great Lakes Brewing Co. &#8211; Christmas Ale<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Medium copper and very clear, with a thin, off-white head.<\/div>\n<div>Ginger and cinnamon on the smell and taste. \u00a0Not as strong of a smell than the other beer.<\/div>\n<div>Lightly warming. \u00a0Balanced sweetness with a drying finish. \u00a0Very drinkable.<\/div>\n<div>I believe I know what this one is&#8230;<\/div>\n<div><strong>J: 9\/10 E: 8\/10<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Anchor Brewing &#8211; Our Special Ale 2013<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Dark brown with ruby-red highlights. \u00a0Clear, as far as I can tell, with a thick, tan head.<\/div>\n<div>Pretty heavily spiced. \u00a0Clove and anise, with some cinnamon and maybe nutmeg behind. \u00a0There&#8217;s something in this we just can&#8217;t place, though&#8230;<\/div>\n<div>Similar taste, with the cinnamon stepping up a bit. \u00a0Nicely malty, with a little fruitiness (Erin suggests raisin?) as it warms. \u00a0Moderately sweet throughout, with some bitterness&#8211;maybe from the spices?&#8211;coming in on the finish<\/div>\n<div>Lightly warming. \u00a0Medium body and carbonation.<\/div>\n<div>I don&#8217;t know that I&#8217;d want to drink more than one of these in a sitting, but this is a really nice beer.<\/div>\n<div><strong>J: 9\/10 E: 9\/10<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I ended up casting the deciding vote, and Great Lakes moves to the finals!
